naval museum
The
old cotton store buildings, now completely restored and refitted, are
home to the "Padiglione del Mare e dalla Navigazione" (Sea and
Navigation Pavillion). The modern museum explains the importance the sea
has played in the lives of the people of Genoa and is also home to many
specialised exhibitions.
To reach the Naval Museum take a
short walk through the pedestrianised historic port area from Genoa Aquarium.
parks
and villas
At one time they were country homes for
noblemen, today the magnificant villas in Genoa, immersed in the green
of their large parks, are open to the public and are located along the
length of the arc running from Voltri to Nervi.
The "Villa della Duchessa di
Galliera" in Voltri is a mountain park with pine forests, grassy
hills and even a small zoo with deer and antelope.
"Villa Pallavicini" in Pegli is a superb 18th Century garden,
a "Disneyland" from other times, with triumphal arches, lakes,
waterfalls, temples, castles and oriental pagodas.
Genoa has something for everyone, from
the city shopping to the ancient city and port, from the famous genoa
aquarium and naval museum to the parks and villas ...
